Tenchi Universe

What happens when an ordinary teenage boy encounters a Space Pirate being chased by a Galaxy Police Officer, who then calls for help and gets two Princesses, a Mad Scientist and another Galaxy Police Officer to come just for the hell of it? Oh, I forgot to mention that all of these visitors are girls-- even the cat-rabbit-thing that turns into a space ship-- and they ALL have the hots for the above teenage boy? Throw in a perverted father and a disciplined grandfather who in anther reality was actually a long lost prince of the same galactic empire?

Welcome to the crazy adventures of Tenchi Universe, a spin-off of the original anime Tenchi Muyo!. This is a comedic retelling of the original story that took a massive detour and got lost in its own world setting.

This was the anime that I formed my first online fan-shrine to, and it has pretty much all of what I need. Lots of pretty girls, exotic species, science fiction, bizarre comedy, even magical girls and alien powers! I recently started re-watching this series, because, why not? It's helping me get through the daily sludge of political upheaval and chaos as my homeland destroys itself, bringing me back to a time when fun was the rule of life.

Who knows, maybe I'll start up another role playing game featuring the Tenchi crew again. Gosh, I miss those days. Let's try not to destroy the universe this time? In fact, I'll probably run this game in the new Big Eyes Small Mouth Second Edition RETRO game that recently came out. It's fitting. I began that first role playing game, my first one as myself as the Game Master using the Revised Second Edition.. anyway, I'm rambling.

Have you seen this anime gem?
