So, I know I'm late to the party here, but I just started watching the Slayers anime, despite knowing about its existence for the better part of two decades, and constantly listening to the hit J-POP OP, Get Along. Now that I'm finally watching this anime, I'm starting to get some questions. I'm starting with this one.

I think it's in the fourth episode, Lina has lost most of her magical abilities because it's that time of the month? So that brings me to question the power of magic. Is it estrogen based? Do male wizards/sorcerers have any sort of balanced weaknesses, comparable to women?

Or maybe it's just that women are that much more powerful than men? But that doesn't really make sense, because she met one of the Five Wise Ones, who demonstrated extremely powerful magical abilities.
