Character Conversion Utility

Would there be any demand for something like this?  A utility that would painlessly convert stats from one game system to another.  For example, I have a Shadowrun (4ed) character that I'd like to convert to Dungeons and Dragons (3.5e).  The utility would convert the Stats from Shadowrun (Body, Agility, Reaction, Strength, Charisma, Intuition, Logic, and Willpower) to Dungeons and Dragons (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma).

Some of this is straightforward, for example, both systems have the Stat of Strength, however, Shadowrun uses Build Point System with stats ranging from 1 to 10 (for simplicity), and each of these Stats costs 10 points, but the highest value costs 2.5 times as much (25 points), whereas Dungeons and Dragons, primarily uses a Roll 4d6 - lowest die value (ranging from 3 to 18).  I am aware that D&D does have a Build Point system for stat rolls, and that may make things easier.

However, these rules are also for starting characters, but what if I have an advanced character that's seen some action, and we want to convert to another game system?  Then I'd need to pull out the Algebra books and write some fancy formulas to convert say a 3 in Dungeons and Dragons to a 1 in Shadowrun, and that's not even true because some Metatypes in Shadowrun don't start at Stat 1, The Troll starts at Strength Stat 5.  In this instance, I guess I could temporarily subtract the starting value (Troll would be at -4, and Dwarf would be at Strength Stat -3).

I can see why this probably hasn't been done, and why many players just reinvent the "wheel" or character when transferring to a different system.  But, this is an interesting idea if anybody would like to discuss this exploration.  Developing something like this could be very useful for developing a Service for fellow Role Players, although, honestly, how many people would really use such a service.  And it would have to be cheap, because most of the Gamers I know are stingy. LOL So say, like $5.  This wouldn't be bad if say a utility in say Excel existed, we'd just plug in the numbers and let the spreadsheet crunch all the numbers.
