For many of us, we communicate our feeling of affection towards another person with the words "I love you".  However, many times, throughout our lives, those words tend to lose their power.  We tend to say those words more out of habit.  I realized this morning, that the words "I love you", just aren't enough.  After all, they are only words.  Words have no meaning if there is no action behind them (or in front of them, for that matter).  This morning, I have come to realize the definition behind this simple overly used phrase in our language.

My fiancee, Tanya has twenty dollars, just burning a hole in her pocket.  But that's the only money we have until next week, when both of us get paid, and we may need that money for some "emergency".  Granted I know, that $20 isn't very much money for any emergency, but we might need some grocery or something.  Anyway, she wanted a coffee drink from this nearby coffee house, a frozen coconut-caramel sauce coffee drink, and while it is super yummy, I don't feel good spending what little resources we have on something that could be considered a luxury.

I've made caramel sauce before.  It's not too complicated, but you do have to keep a VERY watchful eye on the pot as the sugar is melting, and as luck would have it, we have all the ingredients in the apartment to make this drink:  Day old coffee in the fridge (what I usually drink in the morning, what I'd coin as "poor-girl Cold Brew"), vanilla extract, sugar, large flake Kosher salt, water, heavy cream, butter, and most importantly for this recipe, cream of coconut.  So, instead of feeling bad that I said "we really shouldn't buy this coffee", I decided to MAKE it.

I spent the next twenty minutes in the kitchen making this coffee drink, an entire blender full, as it would turn out!  And, it turned out pretty good.  I even remembered we have whipped cream to top it off!  So now we have this yummy drink that I made, and enough to last all day long, and WOW, does it pack a coconut punch!  Good thing we both adore the flavor of coconut. :nosweat:

So, how do I say "I love you"?  I sacrificed about thirty minutes of my precious time, that I'll never get back, and CREATED something for you.  Granted, I'll enjoy the fruits of my labor too, but that's what really telling somebody you love them is all about:  The Action Behind It.
