Got the new computer today!  O.M.G.!!!!  I had to tweak the turn radius value from 5 degrees to .5 degrees because as soon as I hit the arrow button, my world spun around like I was drunk!!  No more choppy playback for me!
General Anime Discussions / Illness

We've all gotten the occasional cold or flu.  But it seems that most anime characters never get sick!  I mean they wear skimpy clothing in cold weather, and I remember as a kid, my mom always told me that I'll get sick if I run around in the cold without a jacket on.  So, let's find some examples of when anime characters actually catch a cold.
General AniMyth Discussion / Unreal Engine 5.1.0

I just upgraded to the newest Unreal Engine version!  And, my first impression is that my computer can BARELY handle it out of the box.  It takes like ten minutes just to load it (but then again, that's the first time initialization) and game play is REALLY jerky/laggy.  I'm in the process of disabling some features like Lumen (at least until I get my new computer coming (hopefully before December)

Speaking of upgrades, my new computer is an Alienware Aurora R13 (With optional upgrades):
  • 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900KF processor (16-Core, 30MB Cache, 3.2GHz to 5.2GHz)
  • 64GB Dual Channel DDR5 at 4400MHz; up to 128GB
  • NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 3080 Ti 12GB GDDR6X
  • 1TB NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD (Boot) + 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage)
  • Dark Side of the Moon 1000W PSU, Alienware Cryo-tech(TM) Edition CPU Liquid Cooling & Clear Side Panel
  • Killer(TM) Wi-Fi 6 1675 (2x2) 802.11ax Wireless and Bluetooth 5.2
  • Windows 11 Pro, English
AniMyth Project Updates / Re: The What, Who, Why, Where,...
Last post by Kokoro - Tuesday, November 08, 2022, 19:22
So, after a lot of thinking, I've realized just how much work my original dream is going to be, so I've scaled it down... but just to start with.

First off, I still plan on making my game very much like Asheron's Call, in that it has a huge 500 square mile area to explore around in.  It's also going to have the free-form skill leveling system (I despise skill trees).  Finally, it's going to have the original magical formulas that Asheron's Call had, where you have to figure out what the combination is to cast a spell.  However, I will be making my own system, that hopefully, won't be too hackable.  I'm also going to be looking into creating a character customizer function, and while you won't be able to swap out body parts, you will be able to tweak the hair color and hair style, coloring of the least initially, I plan to have everybody wearing the standard Japanese Sailor fuku.  (baby steps).

To clarify, I think, since I love the Magical Girl genre in anime, I'll start off by making this a magical girl based game.  You start off as a heroine, in a typical-looking high school (modeled after my old high school ( -- Memory check:  Pending), but the land of Ogygia is full of ancient wonders, gods, goddesses, and a great evil.  I think Zombie Cheerleaders would be an interesting, and hilarious concept.

I have a question for everybody:  How would you prefer to make a character in the game?

How about giant bugs?  I mean, nobody likes insects, right?  Like a six foot grasshopper that can jump 750+ feet into the air?  That's totally Epic!!

General AniMyth Discussion / Character Death
Last post by Kokoro - Thursday, October 06, 2022, 12:04
I have been thinking of the consequences of Death in AniMyth, but I'm at a loss.  I don't want Death to be seen as a permanent type of deal, but I don't want it to be seen as non-consequential, like oh, I died again....  In Asheron's Call, Death meant that you gained a Vitae Penalty -- you lost 5% of your Stats/Ability Scores and Skil Skill Scores, as well as a random thing you were carrying, usually starting with the most expensive item (determined in Gold Pieces).  This could go down to -40% Vitae, and you running around naked eventually.  You'd have to earn XP to rid yourself of the Vitae Penalty and retrieve your dead body (which lasted for, I think an hour (real time) before the giant vacuum cleaner would suck your old body away, leaving your items for about another 15 minutes.

I'm thinking of something like this though:  First, you'd turn in to Chibi form.  I feel that this is a cute, and very anime-trope kind of thing to do.  You'd be limited in some of the things you could do, for example, you probably wouldn't be anywhere nearly as powerful as you normally would be.  Next, I'd also grant the monster that killed you one of your Special Abilities.  I haven't decided yet if the Ability would be transferred over to the monster or if you would keep it and a copy of that Ability would go to the monster.  In essence, you'd be fighting a part of yourself at the same time as the monster.  (Of course, if the monster is killed, then you're ability would go to back to you if somebody else killed the monster.)  This could cause in effect, a way of kind of cheating Death, so I'd have to think about that.

Do you have any thoughts or ideas on this topic?

"Oh, so it's kind of like this."  Mihoshi said as she pulled out a translucent pink cube and began twisting it like a Rubic's Cube.  Random things started appearing all around her.

"Mihoshi...", Kiyone said with disappointment, "Please stop making a mess in here."

"It's okay.  I'll find the force shield-thingy."  Mihoshi said as she continued to turned the sides of the cube.
