We now have a Shop

In today's Website Update, I've added a simple shop.  Mostly, I'm interested in the functionality to accrue Credits, which will eventually be used to translated into tangible currencies to purchase anime related products.  However, the piece I need for that is like $90/year, and I still need to figure out what products I'm going to be offering.  So for now, just enjoy, and rack up those Credits.  Please note that some boards earn more Credits than others, but essentially you gain the following:

Just for becoming a new member:  1,000 credits.
Each new topic you create:  50 credits.
Each reply you create:  10 credits.
Every time somebody likes one of your posts:  5 credits.
Some boards will even count the words, and give you 1 credit for each word.

Why add this functionality?  I want to encourage member participation.  I also want to reestablish the goals I had with my first site, and eventually offer anime merchandise.  For now, the second phase of this operation, I will be creating some useful digital goodies that could be useful, especially here as role-playing aides.  After I get the funds necessary for the add-on modules, and the active member base increases, I plan to add physical anime and role playing related merchandise.

Forum Shops are wonderful. I haven't implemented it on my forum but have seen & used it on others. It's great when you can "buy" items without having to pay out USD.

That's going to be the eventual plan I have. But I'll need to offset the cost of the products with another mechanic to be able to afford doing this.

Do you have a way to do Forum Currency? Do you get donations? Could you offer your services (tech, graphics) to some people for USD? There's some forums that allow "employment" such as that. The people can either get paid with USD or the forum currency.

I do have an exchange rate for USD in mind, however, I'm not quite ready to implement it yet.

Oooh!  I saw the credits thing a while back but hadn't seen this thread and was wondering what those were about XD.

Eventually, I plan to open a merchandise shop and these credits can be used towards the purchase of the plethora of products I'll offer.
