Solo role playing has been around for a while now, and reached a peak during those unfortunate Covid years. For those who aren't initiated in the practice, you can either take a well known game of your choosing, like PathFinder, and attempt to create a bunch of characters to play a game by yourself via journaling, or you can pick up a specially made role playing game dedicated toward solo play.

There's lots of choices available, far too many for me to list here, but there's also several books dedicated toward the subject, that not only teach you how to solo role play, but also how to convert any role playing game into one that you can solo all on your own.

Have you had any opportunities to play a role playing game specifically designed to be solo played? What was your experience like?

Here’s a few Ironsworn, Four Against Darkness, and Mythic GME.

Ironsworn is known for its narrative-driven gameplay and gritty fantasy setting, while Four Against Darkness offers procedurally generated dungeons for endless exploration. Mythic GME can be used as a standalone game or to enhance other tabletop RPGs. Other popular options include Alone Against the Frost, which features Lovecraftian horror, and The Wretched, a sci-fi horror experience.

I really never stayed focus on one because I got ahead of my self and bad planning stages.

But creating the player base sheets was a blast!

I recently picked up the Mythic GME (Game Master Emulator), and it looks pretty solid (Second Edition). I didn't know that you could use Mythic as it's own game system though, but then again, I haven't gotten very far into the book yet.

I'm actually looking at running a GURPS game with Mythic, and I'll probably publish it here somewhere... LOL
