When I lived in the Ohio Valley, around this time of year, the Ren Fest would set up shop for a couple of months. I loved walking into a pre-electrical era, sampling the food, seeing the crafts and other talents, and of course buying all that awesome merch!
For years, I've had my eyes on Badger Blades (I think that was the name of the shoppe), with the intention of purchasing a true sword. Annihilating a cinder-block was more than enough proof to me that their swords aren't simply wall trophies! And the purchase point of only a few hundred dollars ($500 - $600) for a decent blade is easier to digest than spending thousands from an international site.
But weapons aren't the only thing that caught my eye. The clothes, the jewelry, and of course, all the other witchy-craft stuff typically strewn around the other shops always attracts this little goblin-girl to the Shiny!
Unfortunately, I haven't yet found a replacement here in the North East, however, maybe sometime in the future, after I find some friends, we can partake in a round of Meade together? Have you had the pleasure of attending a Renaissance Fair?
