I'll have to watch the series again, but I don't recall seeing any Persacoms other than female. There is an exception, I remember Yumi has a small persacom in the shape of a frog or something, but all the persacoms I remember seeing in the anime are female. Maybe the manga has some male examples? It's been forever since I've read the manga.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Chobits could be sexist?

Yes, I would say that it definitely has sexist elements. However, it probably didn't seem so at the time that it was produced; most other media created worldwide in a similar era also had pervasive sexist elements.

I've got a small collection of Chobits stuff. This has got me thinking. I'm sure I remember scenes in the show where "male" Persacoms are used by people encountered in town. I haven't watched in years, I'll need to run through it again.

I don't know Chobits well, but I know that shows for girls about girls sometimes have a strong bias toward female main characters that isn't really a reflection of anything derogatory. It's probably just that honestly? The messaging of sentient objects being women is unfortunate, but likely unintentional is what I mean.

Ooooh... OOOOH. The marketing tricked me into thinking a different character was the MC. x3

Yeah. That's more likely to be some good ol' fashioned misogyny right there. I can't speak to the severity, but I definitely see why you were concerned now.
