I remember coming home from Summer School during my last year of High School back in the early 90s, flipping on Sci-Fi, and tuning into the re-runs of the classic Battlestar Galactica (BSG). I distinctly remember the voice-to-text as Commander Adama as he dictated into his log. Even today with Smartphones, as I routinely use Speech-to-Text technology, I can't help but to flash back in my memory to that scene.

While I don't remember too much about the original run of BSG, I was excited to see a remake air on Sci-fi in the early 2000s. I was a little put-off by the battle over pagan vs monotheistic religion the show seemed to have ingrained into it. (Also keeping in mind that it was also during this time period when I was beginning to question my allegiance to mainstream Christianity.) However, the story was interesting. Space combat, nuclear weapons, and of course, AI robots-- but they LOOK like HUMANS!? No, we can't call the Cylons "toasters" anymore. The complicated romance and betrayal of Dr. Baltar with Cylon Number Six only added more depth to the story.

I do remember quite a bit more about the remake than the classic. There's still morals included within each episode, and I appreciate that (having grown up during the era of 80s cartoons that featured a moral at the end of each episode). As I look around American Society, I think that we could probably use some gentle reminding of those morals and values even today more so.

Anyway, what do you think of this show?

I haven't watched the show yet, I remember seeing commercials for it when I was a kid in the early 00's though. My parents weren't too big into sci-fi shows, my mom was more into supernatural ones like Buffy.
