So, thanks to the many generous people who contributed to my Partner's GoFundMe, we were able to finally get a new mattress--that WASN'T a hand-me-down! We were originally going to get a Purple mattress, but Tanya settled for the DreamCloud Queen because it was several hundred dollars cheaper than Purple, and it was recommended by more than a single person. Now hopefully our back problems will take a hint and go away!

And... I gotta figure out how to properly dispose of our old mattress. I do live in an apartment building with a dumpster, but, I think I need to have special arrangements made... 🤔

And now that I've properly unpackaged my new mattress, let's take a look at the unseen damage the old mattress had suffered...

No WONDER why our backs are hurting. The damn things is literally disintegrating right underneath us! Note that this damage wasn't there when we moved in our new apartment in 2023.

I should probably give a quick update, because it has been a couple of days.

Rest. OH My God. Sleeping is literally a dream. I'm waking up more refreshed, and I didn't fall asleep yesterday on my way to work. (But that might be because I had Sunday off, and had a chance to actually recover some energy)

And so far, this mattress is holding up on the comfort part. Best part is the Forever Warranty. If there's any defects from natural use within ten years, they'll replace the mattress for free!

Oh heck yeah! I'm glad to hear that.

Though as someone with some back issues, I have to ask. How has the thing been treating your back since getting it? I've been looking into how to ease things up on my back when I sleep. I tried the pillow between the knees tricks, but that doesn't really do much for me. Besides I get a bit hot too quickly so I don't like to sleep with a lot of extra gizmos.

First, the back issues... mostly melted away. This mattress is SOOOOOO comfortable. Tanya hasn't had any back pain at all since we got it.

Second, it has a cooling... thingy built into the mattress, and you can get extra sheets/padding too, although, Tanya said she doesn't need it-- and supposedly, I'm a freakin' heater after I fall asleep.

Well hearing the fact that your back issues melted away? That's a big plus in my book, however now it's time for the big question. How much cash-money did that thing actually run you both? That will be a big factor rather or not I could actually get one in the near future, after I dig into it more.

I never heard of this brand until now, and yikes I can see why both of you had back issues. Your old mattress had seen better days! Have you been able to dispose of your old mattress yet? My wife and I used to live in an apartment, and it sucked when the dumpster was overflowing when we had to take trash out. I can't imagine having to dispose of a large mattress, do you live on the bottom level?

Luckily, we do live on the bottom floor, and we're the closest unit to the dumpster. But it's a Queen, and I'm concerned the dumpster may not be large enough... and how do I get it in there. It's well over a hundred pounds. I mean, I'm strong, but unless I can get some serious help to literally lift this flimsy heavy thing over my head, good luck to me!

As for now, the old mattress is sitting in my hallway to the front door of my apartment. It's so thick that it literally cuts the width of my hallway in half!
