Yikes, that sounds about as trashy as it was ten years ago when I stopped using it. Though I don't remember a ton about it, but about a monthish ago, I believe. When I was seeing one of my grand parents they were showing an ad that could basically be summed up as 'we pinky swear AI isn't a bad thing, we believe in people! - Meta'
Eugh... Yeah. I stopped using that site like a decade ago when I realized the company was harassing trans people to use their "real" name. Haven't regretted it since!
Can confirm, every time I open the app now I get greeted with transphobia and misinformation about trans people. I don't know how many times I've reported posts on the platform, only to be met with "This post doesn't go against our community standards" but I've heard you have to keep reporting posts and a few transphobic ones have been removed. And when you click that you're not interested in those posts it gives you a few different reasons and one of them is "gender debate topics", trans people exist and have existed for years. I hate Facebook but my family will not get off the platform. I've tried for years to get them to join my websites but they won't. :\
I know the feeling. Maybe what you have to do is draw your foot in the sand. State that you'll be found on your website (link provided) and stay the hell of Facebook. I have like three friends on Facebook. They know where they can find me. (Right here!) As you can imagine, I don't really do much talking to those friends much anymore.
I was fairly active on Threads up until very recently. Why am I not now?
I'm drafting a rather long post about the Effect of Social Media and how it was designed to inhibit our Executive Function (self-discipline). All because I decided to go down a rabbit hole about the Seven Deadly Sins.
