Recently, I've begun looking into making my own maps, as I eventually plan to host a VTT (Virtual Table Top) game, and when I do, I'm going to need some maps.

Now sure, there are tons of maps that have already been made that I could purchase, but some of the fun within the hobby of Role Playing and writing creative fiction in general, is making the map your story takes place in. I found a few software utilities to help with this process.

WonderDraft looks to be a very robust, user-friendly, and inexpensive software that allows you to create wonderfully rendered fantasy style maps in no time at all. This is a product that allows you to create entire nations, continents perhaps to explore massive landmasses that you can populate with mountains, rivers, forests, and of course, towns.

DungeonDraft, a companion App is dedicated to making smaller areas, specifically Dungeons, but building's floor plans, boats, probably capital class space ships could also be rendered as well. There are tons of assets that you can use to fill the playable areas with, and many community based assets are also available.

Fractal Mapper is another, older program that allows you to create fantasy based maps using the power of fractals to generate random coast lines.

Astro Synthesis is a companion product that allows you to create an entire universe to explore. Bonus, you can use Fractal Mapper to generate the worlds that you'll find within Astro Synthesis.

These are the ones that I've recently discovered. Do you know of any?
