I think I'm running back into old anime and old role playing games because I'm deep in survival mode.
I miss the days when I didn't have to worry for my neighbors. When school shootings weren't like every day. When our elected officials weren't criminals. When people at least gave the illusion that they cared for one another.
Those games, those shows still carry those feelings for safety, of warmth, and of good times. A time when people could still smile, and actually laugh.
I'm watching Tenchi Universe right now. And as I've begun watching the Adventures in Time and Space, Ryoko makes mention of a possible coup d'état on the Royal Family of Jurai. Twenty years ago, this would be complete fiction, and I never would have dreamed of having to live through such an unpleasant experience. However, with the current events that have taken place within the United States over the past year, I feel the gravity of Ryoko's words. What Ayeka must have felt deep down, even though she'd never admit it. I know what ending is coming within the Universe of Tenchi-- something that seemingly only happens in fiction. A happy ending. Reality isn't anywhere near that nice. In fact, I feel it's quite cruel, which is why fiction seems to be the only place where endings are a happy place (-- not all the time though!).
I'm looking back through Big Eyes Small Mouth Second Edition RETRO-- a remaking of the original game I fell in love with back in the early 2000s. Trying to create some characters with it. But Third Edition has spoiled me! And now Fourth Edition has even more options available. I'm not really sure I can find happiness within the older versions-- at least, not yet. Time will tell, won't it?
And even though I realize as I'm typing this that I'm mostly just screaming in to The Void, I guess I just need the possibility of somebody to see what's on my heart.
