The Nintendo Wii

..... Yeah that was kinda common information as well as expected as the BLU-RAY is a more finite beam versus the standard which allows for more storage capacity, which in reality the disk's aren't really growing in capacity. But rather the beam and the way it is compressed allows for that jump

The blue-ness of the name comes from the fact that smaller wave length of the electromagnetic radiation on the blue end on the spectrum allows fom the greater storage cpacity. More compact waves allows for more to be stored in really the same ammount of space. Ahh brings back memories of chemestry class

Having a intelligent answer is always nice as it shows a person your creditentials in what you are talking about. so people will actually respect you as well as not question a THING you have to say if it isn't true. Or so a co-worker put it to me 2day while another co-worker always gets treated like he knows nothing. Customers will always question him and try to cinvince him that he's wrong when he's like in his 2nd degree for computer field...

Would electromagnetic waves be Chemistry, or Physics? Not that they don't teach things in the wrong class...

Anyway, it seems like Blu-Ray is coming too early to be successful yet. DVDs are still relatively new, it's not time for an upgrade.

DVD was introduced in 1996, call that new?

Considering the time it took DVD to come properly to market, think about how long it will take blu-ray or hd-dvd to become successful?

They are in both but I haven't had physics yet.

electromagnetic would be in physics courses, IMHO.

But blu-ray is actually going to have a home stereo dvd player that BB will start carrying soon, but it'll cost 1000 dollars for the unit and it'll play those BLU-RAY dvds. While HD-DVD player is only 499.99, now for the same quality... which would you go with, Sony's Properity brand or go with like another brand that does exact same but costs HALF the price. Be kinda funny, Sony is making normal DVD players but at this point I don't think they will be making any HD-DVD players only the blu-ray. So who will win this battle of quality sony brand or something else. I konw it will have some serious support for the brand as there is a freaking thousand fanatics out there that would say Sony is best at everything. And everytime I hear that, I nearly want to kill myself.... Especially when i tell some of my co-workers that. They freak out and go, "what you say?? Sony is not the best??! BLASHPEMY!!" and i just think to myself.. please just die.....
as Sony is just a name now, they don't make anything on their own, like before PS use to be made in Japan back where it all started but as you can tell now they've sold themselves out to China as I guess labor union fees were cheaper. Argh.. i'm going to stop before I get everyone to hate me due to my opinion of such a cruddy brand.

What are the exact differences between Blu-ray and HD-DVD, anyway? I'm sure there's something that justifies the double cost...for those who care...

There isnt much, as far as im aware the sizes while not the same are similar, the read write speeds are similar if not the same and the format of the movie playback system is different but still manages similar things. Otherwise I am not aware.... I think this is typical sony trying to get a format to the market at any cost, whether or not it is going to be successful.

The Quality from the research and from what i've seen is the EXACT same execpt I think Blu-RAY can access 1080P quality while HD-DVD is only 1080i, but I could be mistaken..

Which is pretty much the same now the PS3 from what i've heard it will not be able to play normal DVD movies, but only the BLU-RAY movies and PS1-PS3 games another thing going at it. But this might be one mistake that may cost Sony Millions..

So now Sony fanbois will have bought their movie collection 3 times: DVD, UMD, and Blu-RAY...

I pity them. I really, really do.
